“Which one do you think comes first: chicken or egg? In our case, apparently there was Zoomageddon first before Frame Rats Digital!”
Zoomageddon, our brainchild, emerged during the intense days of the Apple Developer Academy’s Final Project. Picture this: six passionate minds huddled together, fueled by caffeine and creativity, as we embarked on a journey that would shape our studio’s destiny.
Our squad of six—each with their unique superpower—crafted Zoomageddon’s DNA. We had the coder who could turn spaghetti code into symphonies, the pixel artist who breathed life into our post-apocalyptic world, and the sound designer who made explosions resonate in players’ hearts.
From September to November 2023, Zoomageddon evolved. We coded, cursed bugs, and celebrated breakthroughs. Our base-building mechanics took form, bullet patterns danced across the screen, and the dungeon’s secrets whispered to us late at night.
“On our final exhibition day, called Harvest Festival, more than 100 visitors swung by our booth and playtested Zoomageddon’s prototype.”
The Harvest Festival—a crescendo of anticipation and nerves. Our booth stood adorned with neon signs, like a beacon in the digital wasteland. Visitors flocked, controllers in hand, ready to dive into our pixelated apocalypse.
“Best believe everyone had a blast (which was approved by the Senior Director of Apple Developer Academy himself: Mr. Gordon Shukwit!😉)”
Explosions echoed through the hall. Laughter, gasps, and cheers followed. Mr. Shukwit, with his discerning gaze, nodded. Our hearts soared. Zoomageddon had conquered the festival, and our journey had just begun.
And so, from Zoomageddon’s prototype, Frame Rats Digital emerged—a phoenix rising from lines of code. Our post-apocalyptic blend of action, strategy, and narrative depth found its voice. The chicken had laid the egg, and the egg hatched into a game that would define us.
